About Julia Lehman
Julia Lehman is an illustrator, fiber and mixed-media artist from the Philadelphia region. She has a undergraduate degree in art history as well as a Master’s in the Art of Teaching from Rutgers University. She is a certified art teacher and has worked for several years in art and early childhood education.
Much of Julia’s work is inspired by her studies in art history. She is particularly fascinated with the human figure as a motif and a means to explore the nature of embodiment. Julia additionally takes inspiration from the feminist fiber arts tradition, and purposefully mixes painting with fiber art elements to challenge the distinction between fine art and craft.
Julia has shown work at local venues and markets, including a long-term residency at a studio and shop in the Fishtown region of Philadelphia.
